The Watership Down Discussion Group
An E-Mail Forum for lovers of the works of Richard Adams

Created in May of 1998 by Michael Passmore and now moderated by Jeffrey Verzak, the Watership Down discussion group is a place where you can go to share your thoughts about this amazing novel as well as the other works of Richard Adams. In the past we've discussed topics as varied as favorite characters to the up-coming animated television series in the UK. From connections between the novel and World War II to who we'd choose to put into a Watership Down based chess set. We've even discussed Watership Down tattoos! If this sounds like fun to you, we invite you to join using the box below or else you can join through our host, eGroups at http://www.egroups.com

List Policies

In order to keep the list a fun place as well as a useful place, we ask that you read these policies and follow them when posting on the group:
     (1) No profanity. This group is used by people of varying ages and tastes, and for a discussion of Watership Down, profanity is simply not needed.

     (2) Stay on topic. Because of the volume of mail sent through this list and the amount of people who receive it, it is asked that you keep your posts as much about the book and its related topics as possible. What is on topic? Anything relating to Watership Down including (but not limited to) discussions about the novel, animated film, animated series, Tales From Watership Down, possible subplots and allegories, how it affected you, and the like. We also welcome discussion about Richard Adams and his other works, some discussion about rabbits in general and on occassion, non-Adams works of literature that seem to relate.

     (3) Clearly label off topic posts. When you do need to post off topic, we ask that you label it as such in the header, so others know immediately. The traditional way to do so is simply type "OFF TOPIC" in the header as in "Subject: [OFF TOPIC] My rabbit had babies!"

     (4) Treat others with respect. Insulting others in the group will not be tolerated. People in the group have different beliefs and values, and these need to be respected if we are to have a meaningful group. "Flaming" other people is the quickest and easiest way to be removed form the group.

     (5) Spam and sales pitches will not be tolerated.

     (6) To unsubscribe from the group, send a blank email to "unsubscribe-watershipdown@egroups.com". Sending mail to the group saying "Unsubscribe me!" rarely works like you'd like it to since it may be days before I get around to doing it manually. Using the above method assures your immediate removal.

     (7) Limit copied text to that which you need to reply. Please don't send us entire copies of old mails with "Me too!" added as it slows down the process for everyone (especially those using web based email). Quote relevant portions and leave it at that.

     (8) Do not send file attachments to the list. They are not recoverable by everyone.
